Chemnitzer FC vs. Energie Cottbus
Germany, 3. Liga
Hosts are on fire since the new season starts. Last season they had a lot of problems, but with the new coach K. Heine and the complete new rooster - 11 players left and 13 new signings in summerbreak - they improved a lot.
They go through to next round in DFB-Cup against Mainz 05, the team which beat Dortmund two days ago and are still unbeaten at home, without conceding a single goal. Overall they lost just once this season and conceded only four goals in ten matches. They have the best defensive line and with captain A. Fink (6 goals), one of the best strikers in league.
On the other hand we have Cottbus which is coming from a homedefeat after leading with 1-0 against Hallerscher FC. Coach S. Krämer have a lot of problems with absences due injury and haven't got a wide enough squad to compensate these missings. This is one of the major reasons for my bet. In the match against Hallerscher FC he had only one Keeper and three defenders on the bench after F. Pawela was substituted for Z. Pospech who had stomach cramps. The match on saturday was very debilitating and I expect very tired guests. First goalkeeper R. Renno and L. Kaufmann are baq in squad while A. Makarenko, M. Holz and N. Ledgerwood are still out. C. Mimbala is doubtful and striker Z. Pospech is questionable as well.
I expect a hard-fought derby tomorrow, but see the hosts as favourites even more than the bookies see them. They are very strong at home and have the better individual quality. Even if Chemnitzer FC was lucky to get a point out of the goalless draw against Stuttgart II, I believe that they could rehabilitate and fight back at home to get another three-pointer and defend their position at the top.
